Acrylic on canvas, 150 × 120 cm
A monumental portrait surrounded by macaws in gold and cobalt — birds as symbols of voice, colour and liberation. Painted in a single sustained session, the work layers realism and luminous abstraction into something that feels simultaneously intimate and monumental.
Enquire About This WorkHelia is a Persian painter working in acrylic and mixed media, based in Laguna Niguel, Southern California. Her work weaves together Persian calligraphy, figurative painting and bold colour — a visual language shaped equally by her Tehran upbringing and the luminous light of the California coast.
Born and raised in Tehran, Helia studied art and painting at university there before relocating to Southern California. Her work carries the depth of Persian artistic tradition — calligraphy, pattern, geometry — fused with a contemporary figurative practice developed since her move to the United States.
Her paintings are held in private collections across the United States and internationally. She accepts a limited number of commissions each year.
